Obituary of Jack Freeborn

John “Jack” Morrow Freeborn 1927-2023 It is with sadness that the family of Jack announce his passing on November 23rd, 2023 at 96 years of age. He leaves behind his beloved wife of over 70 years Marnie. He will be lovingly remembered as Dad to his daughter Cathy (Darryl), his son John (Margaret) and his daughter Ellen (Michael), and as “Pa” to his grandchildren Lisa, Jeffrey, Andrew (Jamie), Philip (Jessie), Megan and Riley and great grandchildren Rowan and Maxwell. He will be missed by his extended family including his last remaining sister Mary-Ellen, his many nieces, nephews, their families and long-time friends. Jack spent his entire working career as an employee of Hussmann Canada (previously named Ruddy-Freeborn Refrigeration). He was a lifelong resident of Brantford where he and Marnie enjoyed spending time with all their friends. Jack’s parents’ cottage in Muskoka was always a special place for him and the extended family. Jack and Marnie enjoyed traveling abroad and also wintering in Barbados. Jack loved to garden, walk, dance and do genealogy research. Family and friends will be received at Beckett-Glaves Funeral Home 88 Brant Avenue, Brantford, on Friday, December 1st, 2023 from 12 pm until the service time at 1. Funeral service will commence in the chapel at 1:00 pm. The family would like to thank the staff at St Joseph’s Lifecare for all the support provided to Jack. If desired, donations to the St Joseph’s Lifecare Centre Brantford would be appreciated by the family. A tree will be planted in memory of Jack in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
