Obituary of Robert Jones

Jones, Robert - It is with great sadness we announce Rob passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 15, 2022, just before his 56th birthday. Beloved husband of Candace (nee Gobbi) and loving father of sons Zack and Tim. Survived by his sister Leslie (Bart) Robinson, his aunt Marilyn (Bell) DiLascio, brother-in-law Chris Gobbi, mother-in-law Marie Gobbi and wonderful cousins. Predeceased by his parents Karen and David Jones, and father-in-law Fred Gobbi. ‘Uncle Wob’ will be fondly remembered by his nephews Andrew (Julie) Robinson, David (Kelsey) Robinson, Stephen Robinson, great-nieces, and great-nephew. Rob was born in Montreal and raised in Mississauga. Rob’s financial career began 30 years ago in the insurance industry. He took great pride and was very happy in his line of work, progressing through various finance and compliance roles. His personality attracted friends wherever he went, touching all coworkers who knew him. Rob met the love of his life, Candace, at work in 1995 and they married in 1998. Together, they raised their two sons. Rob always put his family first. He enjoyed family gatherings and cherished every moment with the ones he loved. Rob's happy place was his summer vacation home on the lake where great laughs at the campfire and many memories were made with the Robinson, DiLascio, Gobbi, Gehl, Cormier, and Rudnick families. In his free time, Rob loved cheering on his favourite sports teams, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Buffalo Bills. Listening to classic rock music was another passion of his, especially blasting Pearl Jam, who most would have heard during time spent with Rob at the lake. Rob enjoyed travelling with his family, especially Caribbean cruises, trip to Paris and tour of Costa Rica. At the family’s request, a private service will be taking place. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave., Brantford, 519-752-4331. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Digestive Health Foundation in support of Gastroparesis would be appreciated by the family. A tree will be planted in Rob’s memory in the Beckett-Glaves memorial Forest.
