My deepest condolences to Blaine and all the family whom she loved so deeply. My heart is filled with sorrow at the passing of Jackie. She was full of life and love and curiosity. Her positive spirit was a ministry even more than the amazing book selling and buying skills she excelled at. As my rep and support on the Hamilton Conference Staff Committee, I looked forward to our regular catch-up sessions and hearing stories of how her life was going as well as sharing my work and personal life. May you be strengthened and held in love in the days and weeks to come as Jackie has done for so many of us.
Sorry to hear of your loss, your family is in my prayers.
I am very sorry for your loss. Today and always, may loving memories bring you peace, comfort, and strength.
Blaine & family,
Our deepest condolences and caring thoughts are with you at this time. May you hold onto each other fiercely and find strength from Jackie's love as you move forward through your loss.
Very sincerely,
Nancy & Les.
To Jackie's family and friends we extend our sincere condolences. Jackie help many of us while planning programs and/or worship services. Five Oaks Book Store just won't be the same without her. She had a marvelous memory and a very caring, helpful, loving demeanor. We were all very blessed to have known her.
Jackie Childerhose enriched my life.
She provided excellent service as manager of the Grand River Book and Audio-Visual Centre. Every minister needs a book store, and the Grand River Book Store was my shop. Jackie's assistance was always invaluable.
Jackie provided a hostess service for Five Oaks guests. If toothpaste or toothbrush or shampoo or soap was left behind at home, Jackie had a basket of hygiene items that were free for the asking. What a kindness!
I regret being absent from the funeral service on Wednesday morning.
May God's gospel Spirit strengthen all!
sincerely,
Ross Carson, Newmarket, Ontario

I have served as a member and a chair of the Five Oaks Board, and have been an attendee at many educational events at Five Oaks over the years. Some of my fondest memories are of the Grand River Book Store and of Jackie. She always had the shelves stocked with wonderful resources. Whenever an event was being led by a person who had published resources Jackie always ensured that there were several copies of those available during the event. She often left the book room open after hours so that we could browse the shelves well into the evening, and we could just leave a list of resources we had chosen on her desk, and then the next morning we would go in with our payment.
Jackie was always good natured, welcoming and engaging. She made the Book Room into a place where people wanted to gather. It was a place of inspiration and friendship.
I am so saddened by Jackie's passing. I cherish fond memories of her. My heart goes out to her family.
My condolences to all the family, see you later child and God speed, Rest in Peace Jackie.
I worked at Five Oaks for a couple years running the day Camps. Jackie was full of energy and kindness. When my mom was sick, she offered me so much love and support. She always asked me how she was doing or asked me if I needed anything. Just asking was good enough to show that she cared deeply. When I needed a pick me up or words of advice, I always wandered for the bookstore and Jackie was always there to brighten my spirits. Before I would go, she would always offer me a tiny square chocolate. Those were SO delicious and will always remind me of her. She will be greatly missed by so many people. Rest In Peace Jackie.
I am so sorry to learn of Jackie's passing. I am one of the many UCW women who Jackie helped over the many years of her time at Grand River. I am in Waterloo Presbyterial, and we relied on her suggestions and help often.
She will be missed by all of us. How much more by you, her family.
Sincere sympathy.
Blaine and family,
Draw on your LOVE for each other to carry you through...
Blessings
Shirley & Terry Mordue

My deepest condolences go out to you and your family. Keeping you and yours in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless you and give you strength.
We, at Port Elgin United Church, are saddened to read of Jackie's death. Always resourceful and
cheerful she often guided us to new explorations through books and other resources.
Please know you are held in our thoughts and prayers.
(Part 2) When I asked if she could get us one of those umbrellas, she promptly gave us that one. I thought of her and her generosity when we set that umbrella out on our wedding day. She was a bright soul and I'm so grateful to have had her brighten my life. May all her family and friends be blessed with many wonderful memories of her.
Jackie was a wonderful colleague - supportive and helpful and, most importantly for me, fun at meetings.
She was a warm and lovely person and many, many of us knew her as a friend.
My heartfelt condolences to her family.
I was deeply saddened to hear that Jackie had died. I always looked forward to seeing her smiling face at Five Oaks. She made me feel as if I was coming home. Not only was Jackie extremely helpful in connecting me with excellent books and resources, but also she was a friend who would take the time to listen to my tales of joy and woe. My heart goes out to her family.

Please accept my most sincere condolences to Jackie's family members and close friends,.
I attended Five Oaks for many years and have recently done some volunteer work there.
I ALWAYS made my way to the book store to talk to Jackie, to see her warm smile, to buy a book or two, to feel the warmth and love of her person. As a volunteer recently, I was able to talk with Jackie and to know how bravely she fought the cancer. Her positive attitude will always be a model for me.
All who knew her in any way will miss her deeply.
May you, her closer friends and dear family, find strength and comfort in the days ahead.

I am so deeply saddened to hear of Jackie's passing. Her loving attention to all she met was a trademark of her personality. Her shared experience to those in the LLWL Program students was captivating and her teachings will live on in us. Her knowledge of theological books was as vast as the bookstore, whose full content I'm sure she had read.
Although she was not a close friend, she made one feel as if they were. Bless you in your new home Jackie.
I met Jackie at the book store when I was a student at Five Oaks and I will always remember her kindness, enthusiasm, and her willingness to be of service to others. Jackie's heart and soul touched all of us and she made this world a better place. Jackie will be greatly missed. My condolences to you all. Sincerely, Teresa Coulthard
Our thoughts and prayers go out to you all. Jackie was such a kind, loving and thoughtful person. She will be sorely missed by all she knew. Cherish your memories. May God wrap his arms around you and help you through this time of sadness.
Know she is okay and at peace.
We are flooded with so many memories, this is the chapter in the novel of her well lived life that we never wanted to read. Rest well dear friend, until we meet again.
So very sorry Blaine and Family. My thoughts are with you.
To Jackie's family and friends, my prayers for God's comfort and strength for you at this time and in this season.
Over many years, I found Jackie to be very helpful and knowledgable about finding resources. I spoke with her more often when I served in Ontario, but as recently as this October she was finding videos for me. I am thankful to have known her,
Shalom

Visiting with Jackie when I went to five Oaks was always a highlight of my time there. I’ve done a little volunteer work for over the years and have always enjoyed her wit, her kindness, wisdom, and her wealth of knowledge. I could always count on her to find me the perfect book. And I could always count on her for encouragement in my endeavors. She was a great lady and will be sorely missed.
To Jackie's family and friends: my sincere condolences. Jackie will be missed by many within the United church women's units, she was a well spring of information and a kind and caring spirit. May memories sustain you during this time of loss. Phyllis Buchner, Past President, National United Church Women.
I was very sad to hear of Jackie's passing. You are being held in my prayers. Jackie was a gift to anyone who needed resource material and was always ready to give her help. I will miss her.
Sincere condolences to all of you ... how saddened I am to hear of Jackie's passing into spirit. I am among the many who sat in the Grand River bookshop over the years, while she advised me on what to buy. I am among the many who waited in Manitou Conference for her to come north with her car loaded with treasures to share. I cherish the last animated conversation I had with her in June... she was a blessing in so many ways. She left us too soon but she left us with a wonderful legacy of love. Peace be with her, and with all of you ...
Dear Laura and family,
I am so, so sorry about your mom. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Sincerest condolences.
I am deeply saddened to hear of Jackie's passing. My heart aches for her family and friends. Thankfully I know that "it is well with her soul".
Jackie was a wonderful mentor, teacher and coordinator of our LLWL course at Five Oaks. We shared such beautiful times together and her love of The Lord shone thru in all that she said and did. I am so grateful that I had the honor and opportunity to have spent these precious times together.
My deepest condolences to all her family and friends. Jackie you will be forever in our hearts. Rest in Peace.
My sincerest sympathy to you all. I have many fond memories of Jackie and her devotion to the grand River book store. She was always willing to hold, forward, find, recommend a book and always with a smile or cheery word.
A visit to Five Oaks was not complete without a visit with Jackie.
The part of the notice that referred to Jackie as the heart and soul of the Grand River Bookstore said it well. One of my favourite parts of visiting Five Oaks, for as long as I can remember, was chatting with Jackie. She always seemed genuinely happy to see people, and to visit with them. She had wide -ranging interests and knowledge, and great enthusiasm. She will be profoundly missed.
I'm so sorry to hear of Jackie's passing. What a special woman she was! A kindred spirit of all lovers of books, learning and Five Oaks. She will be missed. Sincere condolences to her family and close friends, Jennifer Mountain
I am so saddened to hear this news. As one of her book sales reps I had the pleasure of spending hours talking to Jackie while we met both at the London Bookfair and at the store. I always looked forward to our time together - she will really be missed. Thoughts and prayers to her family at this difficult time.
I am sorry for your loss. She is a great woman with a big warm heart. I will always be grateful for her assistance at the bookstore at Five Oaks. Blessings Barbara
My deepest sympathy for your loss of a beautiful kind lady whose life was full of love and light! She is remembered fondly for her generosity of heart!
I was so saddened to hear of Jackie's death - every visit with her was like a visit with an old friend you hadn't seen in a while! She was one of the best lights at Five Oaks and I will never go to Five Oaks without thinking of her, her smile, her hug, and her love for everyone!!
I hold her dear family and close friends in prayer as you honour and say goodbye to a phenomenal woman!
Truly we are all better for having known her!
Such a wonderful woman. Kind and dedicated. So sad Jackie will truly be missed by all those who knew her

Wishing all the family my deepest condolences and treasure our times together. I am sure she is in a good place smiling and no more pain.

Blaine - I am so sorry to learn Jackie has lost her battle. As you know, I went all through public school with her and remember when you two got together nearly 50 years ago; true lovebirds!. My thoughts are with you and your family Blaine. Take care of each other.
I don't believe that there are adequate words to describe Jacquie, her kindness, her smile, her energy, her compassion. She helped so many through the maze of books that are just perfect for someone answering a call to ministry. Her advice and more importantly her freindship to me on my internship will never be forgotten. May you find solace and peace in the memories of how she was a part of all of you.
Blaine....So sorry to hear of Jackie's passing. Jackie was a great friend and such a compassionate & giving lady. I loved working, studying and playing with her. She was always so much fun to be around and such a hardworking lady. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you grieve ... but please know that she has touched so many lives through the book store and the church and Sunday School her memory will remain within us forever.
