Please share a memory of Elsie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elsie Spink - 1931-2011 Following a period of illness Elsie died peacefully at home surrounded by her friends, on October 1, 2011. In addition to her many friends, Elsie leaves to mourn her passing, and celebrate her life, her beloved brother Peter Best (Marjorie), nieces Janet (Trevor), Kate (Will) and Anne (Jon), great nieces, Charlotte, Stephanie and Eleanor and a great nephew David. Born in Newcastle on Tyne, Northumberland, England, Elsie and her husband Philip (who predeceased her in 2005) came to Canada where they lived and taught for many years in Montreal, Quebec. Upon retirement they moved to the country outside of St. George and became actively involved in the community. For many years they avidly supported the arts and theatre and were active members of Holy Trinity Anglican Church. Elsie's church family and friends from the community were a tremendous support to her and she found much comfort in their friendship, care and compassion. Arrangements have been entrusted to Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, (519) 752-4331. A service in celebration of her life will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church on October 14, 2011 at 11 a.m. Rev. Margaret Shortell officiating. Cremation has taken place. A private family interment will be held at St Mary's Anglican Church, Staindrop, Durham, England. Elsie was very grateful for the medical care she received from Dr. D. Picketts, Dr. Carol Gideon, Dr. Tozer and the staff of the Juravinski Cancer Centre, and in particular for the outstanding care she received from the staff of Lifeguard Homecare. In lieu of flowers, donations to Holy Trinity Anglican Church (www.htc-stgeorge.ca) or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Elsie in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
