Mr. Ralph Neumann
2013 November 16 Hello from Montreal. I am so sorry to hear this news of Mrs. Spink. Such a lovely person! She taught me Grade Five at Roxboro Elementary in 1965. My favorite teacher in grade school! And, Mr. Spink, sorry to say, I kind of have a crush on her. In 1980 I walk into the school (you could do so then), ask at the office, then walk into her empty classroom where she is eating lunch at her desk. Quite a surprise! We sit together there and talk of the old days, of the kids in the class. I thoroughly enjoyed her teaching: so interesting! She looks sideways a little wistfully and says that she has struggles with the school administration about her teaching approach. I could tell her now of Daniel, a mailman I met on my Saint John Ambulance Ski Patrol Course at Mount Sutton. He was a teacher too. Brought in loads of comic books for his kids to read. Voracious readers, they became. This, however, was not part of the c-i-r-r-i-c-u-l-u-m. Mrs. Spink, did I spell that right? The inventive, imaginative ones always suffer, while we kids delight. Mrs. Spink, safe home, and we will meet again. Thank you for everything. Cordialement, Ralph Neumann
