Condolences
Dear Piret and family Just received the news about Ted, so sad for all of you ... Unfortunately, we are in South Africa, sorry to have missed the visitation. Please know that we are thinking of you. He was a wonderful man, a special father and grandfather and certainly will be missed by all of his many friends. On Friday we were watching the movie Secretariat and talked about Ted and wondered if he was still making his annual trek to Saratoga. Be well Piret. Love from us both Susie and Larry
Ted was the most honest sportswriter I've ever encountered.I do believe the old song TELL IT LIKE IT IS,was his motto. He will be missed not only by Piret and the family, but by everyone who knew him,The sports community has lost a true friend
You don't have to look too far or read too many tributes to understand what a great sportswriter and great man our dear friend Ted Beare was but for me he was much more than that. I read almost everything Ted wrote in our Expositor from the time we arrived in Brantford in 1981 and thoroughly enjoyed his two books. I was almost in awe of the man. When a mutual friend and writer suggested I talk to Ted about the idea I had for a book it took every ounce of nerve I had to present the idea too him. Not only did he encourage me to go ahead (and for all the right reasons) he also helped me through the publishing process. I will never forget that fist meeting with Ted to find out what a down to earth person he was and how humble, I need not have been nervous at all. He paid me the kindest compliment of all when he said "I can see where you are going with this". I am not sure too many others could. Thanks, Ted. I will miss your stories.
My thoughts are with you, Piret. I so enjoyed seeing you and Ted recently at the grocery store, and getting my usual big 'Beare' hug. As with everyone who worked with Ted at the Expositor, he touched my life in so many happy ways, always bringing a smile. He will be missed. Love to you, and the family.
Condolences to the Beare family from all the members of both the Brant/Norfolk Basketball Officials Association and the Brantford Football Officials Association. Ted was always appreciated and respected by sports officials for his fairness when reporting on games where there may have been controversy. He will be missed.
To Piret Beare, Sabrina, Mike, Eric and Owen VanLeeuwen, Keri Williams and Brandon and Bailey Smith. I am truly sorry for your loss. May you always cherish the memories that you have made with your husband, father and grandfather. Brantford was fortunate to have Ted as an integral part of our community. I was saddened to hear of Teds passing. He was such a kind.gentle person. He was a very good friend to both Arnold and I. I think they both had the same standards for their work . You could always expect a fair and honest reporting from Ted. He had so many tales to tell and his memory was phenomenal. When reading anything Ted wrote I felt like I had attended the event even though I hadnt - so real,so straight from the heart. I am presently out of the country and unfortunately will not be able to visit with you.Thank you for choosing the Arnold Anderson fund as a Charity of Choice. It will help us carry on that part of Teds life that boosts involvement in sports of all kind. Piret, you and your family will have wonderful memories of happy times together with family and friends. In time,it is these memories that will sustain you in the difficult days ahead. In friendship with regret Jean anderson
My sympathy to all of Ted's family for their loss. Ted was truly a gentleman as well as a skilled sports journalist.

Dear Piret and Family: My heart goes out to you . Ted is such a large memory for me and my family. From the time he was a young boy he was a great story teller. He would sit and tell me stories while our parents entertained and my memory of this goes back to early childhood. Ted always had time for everyone. He was truly "Master of his fate and Captain of his soul". He will be fondly remembered. Love Lois Zimski
