Obituary of Edgar Morton

MORTON, Edgar J. - Edgar was reunited with his soulmate June (nee: Soden) (1997) on Tuesday, January 26th, 2010 at Charlotte Villa. Born in 1925 in Sunderland, England to Thomas and Alice Maud Morton. Ed joined the Royal Air Force during World War II and served overseas flying a Lancaster Bomber. He graduated in 1947 from Bournamouth University in England with a Mining Engineering Degree and worked as a Mill Manager in West and East Africa, Bolivia, North West Territories and then Elliott Lake, Ontario. Ed returned to school in 1961 and graduated from Indiana Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering. He joined Witco Canada, Brantford in 1963 as Plant Manager and later became Vice President of Manufacturing and Technical Director for the Canadian Division. Retiring from Witco in 1990 Ed continued to do consulting for the detergent industry in the USA, India, Romania, Canada and the Congo. One of Ed's favorite pastimes was flying. He became a member of the Brantford Flying Club in 1979 and continued to fly up to the age of 75. Ed is survived by his children Susan Blackett (Gerald), Kathleen Morton and Jym Morton. Also survived by 2 grandchildren Robert Murchie (Lindsay) and Jessica Blackett. The family would like to thank the staff at Charlotte Villa, in Brantford, for the loving care and friendship that they provided to our father. A Memorial Service will be held at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Avenue on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Peter Wyatt officiating. Interment of Ed's ashes will take place at Farringdon Burial Ground. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimers Society would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Ed in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
