Obituary of Gordon Mitchell

MITCHELL, Gordon Alexander - Passed away, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the Stedman Community Hospice on Friday, June 21, 2013 in his 72nd year. Beloved husband of Linda for over 11 years. Loving step-father of Michelle Newstead (Edwards), and Jeff (Lesley) Edwards. Devoted "Grandpa Gords" to Collin, Jane, Ben, and Kaitlyn. Gordon was an amazing man who lived his life to the fullest despite the fact that he lived it without sight. He was a computer programmer, who's hobbies included amateur radio, woodworking, volunteering at both the Beckett Seniors Centre, and the W. Ross McDonald School for the Blind, and topping it all off by camping with his family. He will be fondly remembered by all of his family members and friends. Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave. on Sunday from 2 - 4 p.m. A Private Family Service will be held. Donations to the Stedman Community Hospice would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Gordon in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
