Obituary of Arthur Holmes

HOLMES, Arthur Thomas - It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Arthur Thomas Holmes at Hardy Terrace in Mount Pleasant, on Saturday, December 15th, 2012 at the age of 94. Beloved husband of Violet Holmes and loving father of Clark (Diane) Holmes, Carol (Bill) Davidson and Kim (Joe) Gambacort. Cherished grandfather of Craig (Lisa) Holmes and Denyse (Dave) Welch, Todd, Brad and Jill Davidson, Ashley (Mike) Todd, Brittany and Nic Gambacort, and great-grandfather of Alysha, Melissa, Emily, Megan, Katryna and Cole. Great-great-grandfather of Aidyn. He was the son of Edgar and Ethel Holmes. Dear brother of the late Elsie Webster, Marion Knapp, Eva Robins, and Joyce MacDonald. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Art was born in Vanessa, Ontario and worked many years at Cockshutts in Brantford. As a youth he loved playing baseball and always had a love for hockey and cheering for the Montreal Canadians. He was a member of Central Baptist Church for over thirty years. Friends will be received at the BECKETT - GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE, 88 Brant Avenue, on Tuesday, December 18th, from 1-2 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery. Donations to the Diabetes Association, the Kidney Foundation or to the Central Baptist Church Memorial Fund would be greatly appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Art in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
