Obituary of Nanette Green

GREEN, Nanette "Nan" (Haygarth) - Peacefully at Brierwood Gardens on Thursday, August 16th, 2012, in her 91st year. Nan is predeceased by her husband George, of 45 years, and older sister Mary. Loving step-mother to Margaret (Peter) Hardwicke and beloved Nana of granddaughter Karen (Scott) Rancourt and great-grandchildren Gavin and Cate. Nan was a veteran of World War 2, serving with the Canadian Woman's Army Corps in Toronto, Washington, D.C. and London, U.K., from 1942 until 1946. She was a member of the Dundas Museum and the Dundas Horticultural Society, as well as volunteering in a number of activities, including being a Brownie and Girl Guide Commissioner. Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Avenue, Brantford on Thursday, August 23rd, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Friday, August 24th at 11:00 a.m. Interment at White Chapel Memorial Gardens at 2:00 p.m. Donations to your local Royal Canadian Legion or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated, in lieu of flowers. The family wishes to express their sincere and heartfelt thanks for the wonderful and compassionate care shown by the staff at Brierwood Gardens. A tree will be planted in memory of "Nan" in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
