Obituary of Joseph Vamos

VAMOS, Joe - It is with heavy hearts the family of Joe Vamos announce his passing on Tuesday, August 14th, 2012, in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Helen Vamos (nee Reidl) for over 60 years. Much loved father of Sharon (Bob) Rigg, Martin (Stephanie) Vamos and Joanne (Bob Yuhasz) Vamos. Cherished grandfather of Chelsey (Eric), Ashton, Adrienne, Jonathan, Mia, Hilary and step-grandfather of Aaron (Patty), Laura (Brian), Jeff (Lee-Anne) and Julie. Step-great-grandfather of Michael, Paige, Ethan, Jackson, Miller and Zac. Dear brother of Gabe (Helen), Ed (Irene), John (Diane) and Frank Vamos. Predeceased by his parents Gabriel and Rose Vamos, his sisters, Mary and Magda and his brothers Andy and Bill. He will also be dearly missed by many other family members and friends. A farmer in the Burford area, Joe was a former Township Councillor of Burford, a past member of the Burford Lions Club with over 40 years of faithful service as well as a past recipient of the Helen Keller Award. A current member Brant Curling Club, having come from the Brantford Golf and Country Curling Club, Joe was an avid athlete having a great love of baseball, golf and hockey, and enjoyed coaching minor softball and hockey in the Burford Area. Friends will be received at the BECKETT -GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE, 88 Brant Avenue, on Friday, August 17th, 2012, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel. Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. A tree will be planted in memory of Joe at the Beckett - Glaves Memorial Forest.
