Dear Nancy and family It is indeed a bittersweet time for us. Since we moved to Manitoulin Island we lost touch. It is so good to be in touch with the family again even at this sad time. We loved Chuck and hold special memories in our hearts. We remember many happy memories of our times together. May the blessings of God be with you and comfort you at this difficult time. You are in our thoughts and prayers
Dear Nancy and Family, Chuck was one of the first community members that I met when starting work at Grand River. I was struck by his honesty, caring and vision for seniors in this community. He was a leader, an advocate and a friend to many. His energy to carry on his work seemed boundless. His contribution to the health and wellbeing of seniors is unmeasurable. The community certainly gained from his determination and it is with this knowledge that I am sad he is now gone, but greatful that I had the opportunity to work along side him.
I knew and worked with Chuck for only a few short years. He was a tremendous advocate and wily negotiator. He was a man of vision and of action. Chuck was a friend that I always enjoyed visiting with at the Resource Centre. A stalwart leader of his community whose ability to see around obstacles and achieve his goals will serve as a continuing inspiration to myself and I am sure many others. Nancy and family...my sincere condolences.
Words seem inadequate to express the sadness i feel about Chuck's passing. Please accept my most heartfelt sympathies for your loss…my thoughts are with you all during this difficult time. Although it’s difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow. With caring thoughts William Crawford
Chuck helped me develop as a young person into a responsible hard working adult. He did so much for the community and changed the lives of so many in Eastdale Gardens. His heart of gold and passion for helping people is an inspiration to us all. I am so honoured to have been blessed to have you in my life and for helping my mom and dad and for being such a good friend, mentor and like family to us all. With love,
I still can't believe your gone daddy and at times I can still hear you. You are the most wonderful father I could have ever asked for. I have so many wonderful memories to always hold onto. Dad I am so proud of you for all you have done in your community, it just goes to show what kind of person you are. Your love and commitment will never go unnoticed. You will always be in my heart and apart of my soul. Missing you. Love you always and forever!!
I lost someone today that was an important part of my life and my career direction. He was an imaginative man, with high aspirations and a passion for the care of senior citizens, and people with disabilities. He was a proud man with integrity, intelligence, and a spirit that was alive with the love of protecting others, that could not protect themselves. He was a loving husband to an amazing wife, and a great friend to all that could see his spirit. He loved animals, he loved his life's work, and he loved his family. His name was Chuck, and he was an amazing person to know..I am so glad that I had that opportunity!! I will never forget you Chuck, you will live forever in my heart ♥ —
Dear Nancy and family, In loving memory of my nephew, an our cousin, Chuck. We can't tell you how sorry we were to hear of your loss. We all have such fond memories and wonderful thoughts from over the years. Chuck will be sadly missed, but will remain in our hearts always and forever. Our thoughts and love are with you. From your loving Aunt Sue, and from Scott, Sue and families, Windsor.
Dearest Nancy, Kim, Kristie, Kelly, Kyle, and Marschal, and your families, We were so saddened by the news of Chuck's passing. Such a kind man with such a big heart. His caring and generousity touched so many lives. And he will be missed - especially by you, his family. I can't begin to imagine the depths of your grief. Our thoughts and love are with you all. Chuck was my big cousin and when I was a kid, Chuck built a wooden toy box for my brother, Scott, and I - a huge one, about 2m x 1.5 m. Then he drove from one end of Windsor to the other - carrying it perched over his shoulder on his bike to deliver it to us. He and the toy box arrived safely. That was Chuck, thoughtful, generous, hard-working and at times doing the impossible. We love him and will miss him. All our love from Denmark, Shelley, Sofia, Esther and Sigurd
I have known Chuck and Nancy for many years, they were joined at the hip it seemed. A smile always greeted me when I visited with them. An advocate, a friend, a father, a husband, a grandpa and a champion to many. I wish to offer my sincere sympathy to the family. I know Chuck's work will carry on through them and through the seeds he planted along the way.
I regret being unable to attend Chuck's visitation and funeral Monday afternoon. I remember Chuck's commitment, kindness and smiles with fondness. May God's goodness and light shine on him. Sincerely, Sub-deacon Paul Vandervet
Dear Nancy and Family, I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of Chuck. What an outstanding citizen and good friend. Through his activism, you shared him with all of Ontario, for that we are grateful. I am personally proud to have known Chuck- he was very good to me and made Brantford feel like home each visit I made. It won't be the same during my next visit. Nancy, my thoughts are with you and your family. May Chuck rest in peace and know how fond he was thought of during his time with all of us. Lisa
Everything i am and will become was built from what you instilled in me. You could see a happy ending in every situation, and would always say there is no such thing as can't. You were a father to all who needed you young and old. I have to admit some times I would get a little jealous not wanting to share you. You loved the fight and fought hard for those who had no one else to fight for them. My wish is that that you have nothing but comfort, joy, peace in your afterlife and be surround by all of your loved ones. I know you will keep your presence close to us but don't you worry about us we will get through this together. I love you always and forever and will keep you alive in my heart and memories. Until we are together again I love you Dad.
