Obituary of Nelson Shaw

Nelson Walker Shaw (1943-2024) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Nelson Walker Shaw on Thursday June 6, 2024, in his 81st year. Nelson is survived by his wife Linda. He was the proud father of Darren (Traci) Duane (Seanna), and cherished grandfather to Hunter and Riley. He is also survived by his brother Larry (Carol) of Calgary and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by his sister, Barbara McCuaig, (May 4, 2024). Nelson was born and raised in Brantford to Allan and Edna (née Plant) Shaw. Nelson spent his childhood playing minor sports and enjoyed the farm life in Mt Pleasant with a large extended and loving family. Known as a friend like no other and he will be deeply missed. At sixteen, Nelson moved to Toronto, and as an adult he settled in Milton. An entrepreneur at heart, he started several successful and varied businesses. He always had a keen interest in business, the stock market, and a passion for real estate. Upon retirement, Nelson returned to Brantford and bought Galaxy Car Wash which he operated for ten years. He enjoyed sharing sunsets over the Grand River, watching the Blue Jays with Linda on the back porch, and always holding a captive audience with his storytelling and sharing a laugh. Nelson always made sure you knew where he stood on any issue being discussed. In accordance with Nelson’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Please consider a donation in his memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Nelson will be forever remembered for his warmth, his enterprising spirit, and his unwavering love for his family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave., Brantford, 519-752-4331. A tree will be planted in memory of Nelson in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
