Obituary of Richard Clelland

Clelland, Richard (Dick) - It is with great sadness, the family of Richard Clelland announces his passing on February 23rd, 2024 at the Stedman Community Hospice, in his 80th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Lorrie. Loving father of Sandra (Dave), Darryl and Shelly (Joe). He loved being “Grandpa on the Farm” to his cherished grandchildren Joel, David, Devon, Emma and Kalli. He also loved his fur-babies Bandit and Gizmo. He was characterized by traits that made him a successful farmer all of his life. He had incredible passion, knowledge and commitment to the world of farming and all that it entailed. He was exceptionally hard working regardless of whether it was for his land, his family or to help out a neighbour. He demonstrated integrity on a daily basis and had an overwhelming sense of community. He was always ready to jump in the tractor, work in the shop, help someone out or go on a crop tour. He was never far from his true love of farming. He will be dearly missed by the many friends and neighbours he got to know over the years. Many of these people became like family members, with each holding a special place for him. Richard was a cherished member of the Brant County farming community where he lived and worked his entire life. Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre on Thursday, February 29th from 1 pm to 3 pm and 5 pm to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday, March 1st at 10:30 am. Donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or Arthritis Society Canada would be appreciated.
