I first met David at least 20 years ago. I had the honour of playing guitar with Sean and bass guitar with Jordan.
About half dozen years ago, or thereabouts, I was down stairs in the shop. It was a Saturday afternoon and, I had just finished lessons for the day, when I heard a knock at the door. I go to the door and there is David with a huge smile on his face and, he is holding what looked like a t shirt in his hand.
I open up the door and Dave says this, "Pete, I can't stay but I was just in (I think this is correct) Niagara Falls and I found this t shirt and it had your name on it" Dave proceeded to hold it up and, may I say, I was gob smacked!
Sure enough the shirt did have my name on it. I asked Dave how much do I owe him the custom printed t shirt. David assured me it was not custom printed and I owed him absolutely nothing for it. He told me he had actually found it on a rack in a store and figured I just had to have it, and indeed have it I certainly still do!!
To Nancy, Sean, Jordan and your respective families and relatives, on behalf of my wife Sheri and myself, our deepest and heartfelt condolences on the loss of such an incredible gentleman. May he rest in eternal peace and may his soul forever soar.
God speed Dave. For my part, you shall never be forgotten,
Pete Melkert
