O'Reilly, Joan
It is with great sorrow that the family of Joan O'Reilly announce her passing at BCHC on August 9th, 2023 in her 94th year. Her husband Neil passed away in December 2022. They had been married for 69.5 years at that time.
Lovingly remembered by her daughters, Lyn O'Reilly and Bev (Darryl) Smallman, her grandsons Rod (Teresa) Smallman and Dan (Sam) Smallman and great-granddaughter, Tori Smallman.
Predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Nellie Birdsell, both in 1996.
Fondly remembered by her very special sister, Shirley ( Edwin 2006 ) Messecar and their family and Neil's relatives on the O'Reilly-Marlatt side.
Joan spent all of her life in Scotland, Ontario where she went to school and joined the Scotland United Church in 1944, 79 years ago, She worked at Hunter Lumber for 26 years and retired in 1988.
A very special thank you to all the staff at Telfer Place in assisted living who cared for Mom for over 2 years and the staff at BCHC - 6th floor who cared for Mom during the past 4 weeks in her final days.
Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Funeral Home, 88 Brant Ave, Brantford, 519-752-4331 on Friday, August 18th from 10 am to 11:30 am.
A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 11:30 am. Interment will take place at Scotland Cemetery.
Donations to the Scotland - Oakland Community Church, Stedman Community Hospice or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
A tree will be planted in memory of Joan in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
