Obituary of Sylvia Bethune

Bethune, Sylvia (Nee Hess) - Passed away peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital on Saturday, July 22nd, 2023 at 84 years of age. Loving mother of Karen (Gordon) Kathy (Jim) Kris (Dwayne) Kelly (Rob) and Kevin (Christine). Will also be lovingly remembered by lifelong friend, Wilf Bethune, who is also the father of her five children. Cherished grandmother of 19 grandchildren and great grandmother of 17 great-grandchildren. Lovingly remembered by brothers Dan (Candy) and Tom (Heather) and their families. She will also be greatly missed by her "twin cousin", many nieces and nephews and their families, as well as many other relatives and friends. Predeceased by her loving parents David and Vera Hess, brothers John, Gary and Jim and sister June. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the wonderful and kind doctors, nurses, PSWs, Lee Staats and the Indigenous Navigation team and other staff of the Brantford General Hospital who helped our Mom over the past few weeks. Family and friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave., Brantford, 519-752-4331 on Tuesday July 25, 2023 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Wednesday, July 26th 2023 from 9:30 am until the service time at 10:30 am. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel commencing at 10:30 a.m. Cremation to follow. Interment will take place at a later date. Donations to the Help a Child Smile Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Sylvia in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
