Q: What will you never forget about Henry?
A:
What will I never forget about my dad
I will never forget how amazing My dad was, he was always very passionate about family and always put family first he was strong and hard working, and looked out for all of us he taught me many things in life kept telling me how important I am to him and how much he loved me. When I made mistakes my dad would always tell me “that’s how you learn in life is by making mistakes and then learning from them” growing up my dad would always take my whole family to church regularly and lived out his faith by telling us that Jesus loves us and he died for our sins and has offered us eternal life” and he also opened up our home to help others that were in need of a home many people joined our family over the years and he treated them all like his own growing up we all made great memories by going on car rides to Florida or adventures while camping and on airplanes. My dad so amazing he was my life hero, my dad will be missed.
As the secretary at Central Baptist Academy, I have had the pleasure of getting to know a few of his very spunky children, Karen and Henry through many phone calls and visits. Henry always had a kind voice and way about him that was very easy to love. I hope that the love and support you feel now will help you in the coming days. Praying for you all. With much love Mrs. Gunning-Hagey
Henry, my dad-in-law, our time together seemed so short, I wish I had more time to get to know you. The love this man had for his family, the selflessness, the sarcastic & witty humour, seeing how strong he was in his faith, the loving marriage he had with his wife. All of these are a part of his legacy. He taught me many lessons by how he lived.
My best memory,
Every year Henry had given me flowers for Valentine’s Day, now when I first came into the family I was not so versed with horticulture, which I came to learn Henry loved flowers very much. He did such an amazing job with the flowers around his property. Anyways, I was given a beautiful pot of roses. Very very quickly they turned to sticks. I had felt horrible for this, they where so pretty. I sent him a message to inform him of they’re….transformation alongside a photo. His response was “maybe next time we should get you a horticultural course certificate first. Or plastic roses.”
From this response I came to learn the humour of Henry Vande Kuyt.
Q: What will you never forget about Henry?
A: I will never forget the fact that this man took me in as his own daughter and promised me a life filled with love and stability, and structure. He showed me what a true foundation was, and what it was like to really have a father and to have someone never give up on you or turn their backs on you and to always love you and support you unconditionally no matter what you do or what life path you choose to go down. I may have been just a foster kid once upon a time but this man became my father. He provided me with a loving family, and always saw the hood in me despite the past I suffered from, and the trauma I endured. I’ll never forget anything about him and he was my ultimate best friend and my home. He made a promise to my biological mother before she passed that he would always be there no matter what life throws at us and he was always there for me until god brought him home. I love you dad, and I thank you for everything, absolutely everything. I will never forget you ever. Fly high my Angel.
