Obituary of Joyce Ona Baker

Baker, Joyce Ona B. Math, B.Ed, M.R.E, Ed.S April 26, 1952-May 22, 2022 "Everybody needs an Aunt Joyce!" Treasured sister of Bonnie MacDonald and Lavern Baker (Ming). Predeceased by her parents Ed and Ona Baker, brother Ted, sister's-in-law Gwen and Shirley (Lavern), brother-in-law Roy MacDonald (Bonnie) and niece Gage McKay. Left to mourn her loss are her nieces and nephews- Judy and Larry Freeman, Wayne and Marilyn Baker, Ted and Kristine Baker, Gary and Liz Baker, Lori MacDonald, Sondra and Rob Van Dolder, Wendy and Scott Anderson. Joyce loved all of her Great nieces and nephews and Great Great nieces and nephews "A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck". Teaching was Joyce's calling and she taught all levels during her career at Paris District Highschool, London Baptist College, Central Baptist Academy, Brantford Christian Collegiate and Redeemer College. She worked as an Education Consultant for the Association of Christian Schools International until her retirement in 2021 during which time she was able to introduce her Math Olympics to those schools. Joyce worked tirelessly in many churches and was instrumental in bringing The Meeting House to Brantford. She dearly loved all of the people she came in contact with during these times. Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be taking place with Rev. Natalie Frisk officiating. A Celebration of Joyce's amazing life will be held at The Circle Square Ranch, 1645 Colborne St.E., Brantford, on Sunday June 12th, 2022 at 12 noon with a barbeque to follow (rain or shine). Family and friends are asked to wear your best hoodie and join us for the barbeque, some of Joyce's favourite things. Donations to the Ranch in memory of Joyce would be appreciated in lieu of flowers. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave., Brantford, 519-752-4331. A tree will be planted in memory of Joyce in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest. ~For this we have Jesus~
