Obituary of Shirley Lehman

Please share a memory of Shirley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a loving wife and mother, Shirley Alberta Lehman after a brief illness with COVID on Thursday, April 28th at the age of 92. Shirley was the devoted wife of Ross for over 72 years and daughter of Ross and Florence Prouse (1965) and sister of Yvonne Cooper (2015). She was the dear mother to Larry (Leanne), Susan (Barry), Anne (Michael), and Barbara (Curtis). Shirley was the cherished Grandmother to Kevin (Shannon), Sarah (Eric), Jamie (Amanda), Joshua (Katie), Rachael (Mike), Veronica (Scott), Alexander (Annick), Ashley (Isa), Lauren (Chad), Marley (Joshua), and Mackenzie (Rachel). Shirley was blessed with 15 great grandchildren with 2 more loved ones expected shortly. Shirley loved and lived life to the fullest! She was the oldest active member at Farringdon Independent Church, attendance beginning when she was 8 years old. Shirley sang in the choir for most of her life, and sat on many boards. Shirley was renowned for her pie baking and produced many for both family enjoyment as well as church fund-raising efforts. Shirley loved Pike Bay, their cottage life and her many dear friends. For the past 31 years, she was an active member of many square-dancing clubs throughout South Western Ontario. In 1992 she and Ross danced their way throughout Europe! Shirley loved to golf and curl, play euchre and bridge, knit baby sweaters and mittens! Mom enjoyed watching anything the grandchildren or great grandchildren were involved in. Shirley's life was centered entirely on her family, her faith and her love of others. She was a wonderful role model, an optimist and a believer in second chances! Her final words to us were, "I will love you all throughout eternity". Tremendous thanks to the staff at the Brantford General Hospital for their efforts and care. Visitation will take place on Saturday May 7th, 2022 at Farringdon Independent Church, 287 Mt. Pleasant Road, Brantford Ontario from 1:00-2:45 pm, funeral service to follow at 3:00pm. Because of COVID, masks will be mandatory to protect your loved ones. To further protect everyone’s health, there will be no reception to follow the service. Shirley’s family will be making a donation to Farringdon’s Mission Project. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donations to The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), Ronald McDonald House or the MS Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave., Brantford, 519-752-4331. A tree will be planted in memory of Shirley in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
