Obituary of Ada Near

Near, Ada Joy - In her 99th year, Ada passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 12th, 2022, the cause simply being old age. Predeceased by her much missed husband, our Father, Ralph Near (1989). Survived by her sons Bruce (Agnes) of Toronto and Lyford Cay, Bahamas, and Paul Near (Diana) of Edmonton. Much loved Nana to Sean (Neena) of Calgary and Brandon of Edmonton. Great Grandmother of Arabella Billie Near of Calgary, born Thanksgiving Day, 2021. Mom's biggest worry this past year was not so much Covid but rather would she live long enough to see Arabella. Over this past year Mom mastered an iPad, email and FaceTime on a self taught basis, thus enabling her to see many pictures and videos of Arabella, and FaceTime visits over the past six months. Mom was a proud member of First Baptist Church, Brantford for all of her life, where she volunteered and served in many capacities over the years. Mom was a 30 year volunteer with Red Cross Meals on Wheels, continuing to deliver meals, as she often said, "to the old people", well into her 80's. Mom always treasured her nieces Pat, Marlene, Cherry and Janis and nephew Rick and their support of her over the years, especially the past few years. Cremation has taken place. There will be a private family interment service with the Near family at Mount hope Cemetery, Brantford. Special thanks to the amazing Doctors, Nurses, and staff of the Palliative Care unit at the Brantford General Hospital for their kind and attentive care of Mom for a full month.
