Obituary of Dorothy Pickett

Pickett, Dorothy Anne (nee Bullen)- May 31, 1934 (Kimberly BC)- March 19, 2022 (Brantford ON) Daughter of Laurence and Dorothy Bullen, Dorothy was a faithful wife and mother who made family her vocation. After earning her BA at Victoria College, she was a "Wellesley Girl" but left nursing to marry Dr. Charles Pickett. They raised a family of six on their farm in St. George, where the thriving of their children, music, the old family cottage Koshlong Lake and Holy Trinity Anglican Church were at the centre of life. Dorothy loved music and art and was skilled at painting and embroidery and loved the out-doors, especially her beloved mountains, fall colours and Canadian Shield. She was predeceased by Charles in August of 2020 after 62 years together, and by her sister Barbara (Blair Anderson). She is survived by her sister Catherine (Robert Morley), her children Catherine, Ruth (Jurgen), William, David (Renee), Laura and Matthew (Ruth Ann), by Sarah Pickett, and by Charles and Dorothy's grandchildren Mary (Joseph), Laura (Jose), Kai, Keegan, Anna, Amy (Robert), Graeme (Vira), Gregory (Blanca), Heather (Dana), Adam (Lindsey), Patrick (Emily), Andrew (Christine), Alexander (Noy), Jonathan and Daniel. Dorothy took great pride in being great-grandma to Dylan, Emma, Jaice, Connor, Aurora, Adaline, Trevor, Marian, Ethan and James. A public funeral service will be held to celebrate both Charles and Dorothy on Thursday, March 31st, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 2 Andrew St., St. George, Ontario. If desired, memorial gifts honouring Dorothy can be directed to Sleeping Children Around the World. Gifts honouring Charles can be directed to Holy Trinity Anglican Church, St. George. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave, Brantford, 519-752-4331. A tree will be planted in memory of Dorothy in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
