Obituary of Jean Rivais

Rivais, Jean Elizabeth- It is with profound sadness, the family announces the passing of Jean Elizabeth Rivais (nee Knox) born October 10, 1945, passed away on July 15, 2021 at the Brantford General Hospital. Much loved by her partner and best friend Merle Colford of 27 years. Loving mother of Kim (Bill) and Karen (Bill). Loving stepmother of Maureen Burgess, Sandra (Linus) Dwyer and Jim Haley (Andrea). Jean loved her grandchildren, Dan (Rachel) Thede, Natalie Fleury (Steven), Derek Thede (Jasmin), Jamie Rounds (Cameron), Kylie and Erin Dwyer, Haley Burgess, Owen Foster and Jacob Haley. Predeceased by her parents John and Marguerite Knox, brother Terry Knox, sister Barb Sayles and nephew Bob Knox. Jean owned and operated her own business, Designs by JR, for many years. She had many and varied interests including genealogy and quilting. She will be greatly missed by those that knew her. Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave., Brantford on Tuesday July 20, 2021 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm. and 7:00 pm-9:00 pm. A private service will be taking place. Cremation to follow. Due to COVID-19, face masks must be worn and social distancing must be adhered to. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Diabetes Association would be appreciated. The family wish to thank the nurses, doctors and staff in the ICU, B2 and B7 floors at the Brantford General Hospital. A special thanks to Megan, Dr. Yousery Koubaesh, Dr. Lucie Gregoire, Dr. Ajayi, Dr. Reeve and Dr. Rosenburg for their compassion, care and support of mom. A tree will be planted in memory of Jean in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
