Derek Shane Esseltine, loving husband and father, passed away, in his home on the 7th of April, 2021. Often found reading in his spare time, he consumed words at a prodigious rate following his passions and fancy. He competed in trap shooting and was an advocate for firearms rights in Canada. He is survived by his soul mate Tatjana Esseltine; his three children Jeremy, Tamara and Connor and his fiancee Jessica, whom he raised as his own. Also survived by his father Pat Esseltine; siblings Mandy and her husband Jim Atkinson along with their child Mackenzie; his brother Kevin and wife Rebecca Esseltine and their children Olivia and Emma; his mother and father-in-law Peter and Ellie Suess; brother and sister-in-law Kevin and Renate Gooder with their children Jakob, Emilie and Abbey. He joins his two mothers Valma and Louise Esseltine. He leaves behind many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends with whom he loved dearly. At the family's request, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service. Arrangements are entrusted to the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Avenue, (519) 752-4331. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Derek in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
