I did not know Bernie personally, but he was a person who was always out and about. Whether I was up to a stroll through the park, stopping to grab a snack at Maples, or sitting on my stoop with a cup of coffee-- Bernie was a steadfast and quiet character who was almost always visible in the neighbourhood. The loss of his presence will be missed, and leaves a deeply felt gap in our shared community.
