It was my sincere pleasure to teach with Peter at Caledonia High School for many years. A person of great intellect who inspired many students including my own children. He had a futuristic outlook on life . We will all miss him but his impact on all who knew will be long lasting.
May he Rest In Peace... John Bouman
My sincere condolences to Mrs Hill and her family. I was a student of Mr. and Mrs. Hill and inspired to learn, for this I am forever learning, Nya:weh go wah. I was pleased to reacquaint with Mr. Hill during his last year, an absolute honor! I enjoyed our banter especially when I would trigger a memory or mention "Bob Dylan" Virtual hugs to all of you, may your memories comfort you.
Respectfully, his favorite student

Keith and I send our condolences. We both had Peter as a teacher at CHS and he certainly was the best teacher for both of us. Very motivating, creative and engaging but most of all fun. Our thoughts are with Margaret, Ellie and Tony and all the family.
I wish to express my sincere condolences to the family of Mr. Peter Hill. I attended Caledonia High School in the 1970’s and was a student in Mr. Hill’s English class from grade 10 to grade 13. He expected the very best from his students and inspired us all to read, write and reflect. I’m certain he was a solid influence in the lives of many young students who have graduated, and moved on to become educators, writers, and influencers. He truly made a difference!

Sympathy to Margaret and family; he was a very witty, intelligent man, could tell he loved teaching History.
He was also a good friend to my mom and dad(Ruth and Mil Mounk) while and after Dad was with him at the high school.
As a couple, Mom and Dad enjoyed their company immensely. God bless your family.
Our family truly appreciated Mr. Hill giving out the Joe Perry Memorial Award! Our hearts and prayers go out to all of his family and friends
What an amazing human and awesome teacher! Sorry to hear he had passed. When I think of him, a big smile will always be on my face. My favorite subjects were English and History because of Peter.
Rest easy my friend.
Big hugs to his family.
My condolences to Mr. Hill’s family. Such a great teacher. Smart, sense of humour and always inspired by his love of teaching.....
Sending heartfelt sympathies to the Hill family. To me Mr. Hill was my to sir with love who took a young girl helping her to love English to pick up a book and enjoy reading. Over the years I have often thought of Mr. Hill when listening to Bob Seger he had shown me the love of hearing the words to a song. He certainly will be remembered with Love for he was my favorite teacher.
I was a student of Peter's in the 60's at Caledonia High School. He was an incredible teacher who somehow reached me when very few could. Partly as a result of his influence I went on the become a journalist and that really says it all about him because I was what would be considered today a high risk youth. My sincere condolences to his family and my gratitude to him. Thank you Peter.
One of the best teachers I ever had, witty, dedicated, and so much fun to be around. You will be missed Sir... from the eldest of the sisters Burke...
My condolences to his family... he left a legacy that learning can be fun, and inspiring...
RIP dear sir. You were one of the best teachers a student could ever ask for.
I am sorry for your loss. I was privileged to be a student of Peter’s. I still think of him with delight 45 years later.
Please accept our sincere condolences on Peter's passing. Although a student, Peter talked to and treated me like an adult and allowed me to believe that my thoughts had value. His generousity of spirit and razor wit set such a standard for so many of us that we still tell the stories and relish the memories. I seldom reflect on my life for too long before a nugget of Mr Hill's wisdom fills the moment. Thank you for being a teacher.

It is with deep sympathy to Margaret and family. Peter was a true professional, learned scholar that I had the privilege to work with and enjoyed many social experiences. Our conversations often covered a spectrum of positions with humour in between. He will undoubtably be missed..Having walked the path 4 years ago with Joan's passing, I can only express my deepest and sincere sympathy on your loss...Richard(Joan) Lawrence
I will always remember some of his sayings, 'you kids know the price of everything and the value of nothing'. Or calling us all a bunch of gutter snipes! Which would always quite a classroom quick. After the third or fourth time I'd give him a sideways look with a smirk on my face. He was the best and my favourite teacher in High School. Our own Mr. Chips!
I'm saddened and reflective on hearing of Peter's departure. I was one of the many students who were fascinated, challenged, prodded and inspired by Mister Hill. My own career as a high school English teacher and writer owe much to his encouragement and example (though he failed, through nobody's fault but my own stubbornness, at making me much of a badminton player!). I loved to watch him teach; his board chalkings were dense and complex and artful and profound. I was lucky enough to come to him as a boy who already loved to read, but he showed me that reading could be much more than I had ever imagined. He quietly fed me and led me toward books -- Conrad's novel Heart of Darkness was one mind-altering example -- without blowing my cover as a jock! There are comments on my papers, in his stylish handwriting, that I can still recall and be nourished by 45 years later. I'm grateful that a mind like that was in Room 106 (right?) at Caledonia High School when I passed through, and only wish I'd had the luck to know him better as a man in later years.
Mr. Hill made a lasting impression on my high school years at Caledonia High. He was an excellent teacher who could make his students think more deeply than most. He certainly will be remembered with fondness and appreciation. My sincere condolences to his family.

Mr Hill was one of the most influential persons during high school years. A great teacher and even better person. RIP Mr Hill.
To the family of Peter:
I had the pleasure of working with Peter and he was the most dedicated person when it came to the education of our students. Peter was a pillar in our community and he is greatly missed. My condolences to Margaret and family.
Rest in Peace my friend.

Sending heartfelt sympathies to the Hill family at this time. Peter was an exceptionally brilliant person, but will always be remembered for his witty sense of humour and we are looking forward to celebrating his life with the family once it is safe to do so.
