Obituary of Doreen Ellen Winter

Please share a memory of Doreen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
WINTER, Doreen Ellen (nee Egerland) My heart is breaking to announce the passing of my mom on the 2nd day of October, 2020, in her 82nd year due to a lengthy illness with COPD. She is finally reunited with my dad her beloved Gordon (2003). She will be terribly missed by me, her daughter, Tammy Kerr who she always referred to as “my girl”, her son-in-law, Ronald and her only grandchild, Benjamin Persall, who she adored and who she referred to as “her boy”. She is survived by her two sisters, Dorothy Sobczyk (Ted), Nora Hanscom (Vince) and her sister-in-law, Barbara Egerland and Diane Egerland. She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Walter and Margaret Egerland, and her sister Leona Stratford (Laurence), brothers Herb, Fred, Bobby, and Jimmy Egerland. Mom enjoyed many years of camping, boating and fishing, she loved to knit, play bingo, and play the slots at the Casino. We enjoyed many games of crib together and had many laughs while playing. She loved to beat me every chance she got. I will miss those crib games. I want to thank my Aunt Barb, you are an angel. You helped me with my mom so many times, and for that I am so grateful. I want to thank my mom’s PSW, Sandy, your compassion and care were a blessing to both myself and my mom. To all my friends (you know who you are) I thank you for stepping up when I needed you the most! I love you all. Cremation has taken place, and per my mom’s wishes, there will be no service. My mom requested that a donation be made in her name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kidney Foundation. You can breathe easy now mom….I love you, “Your girl” xox A tree will be planted in memory of Doreen in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
