Jan and family. You have many fond memories that will help give you strength in the days ahead.
My thoughts are with you during this troubling time. To Jan I thank you for being there when I most needed support and to the family for accepting me into your family on so many occasions both with Ken and continuing to welcome me when Ken was no longer with us. We enjoyed our times with you all and Ken especially enjoyed some of the discussions with Larry. Larry always treated me well and for that I am grateful to have known him.. He was a good guy! Jan, I'm here for you. God Bless you all.
Our condolences to Jan and all the family, at this time of loss. I just attended Larry's web-cast and it was a great tribute to his life, extremely well planned and delivered. All the very best to Sheila, Sharon, Pat, and Beth. Robert Overend, Olga & Alex.
Jan, our thoughts are with you and the family. What a lovely service on line. Thank you so much for sharing.

Larry was one of a kind, that's for sure. From day one, he welcomed me into this family and was always kind to me. I loved that he thought I could answer all his complicated questions about plastics and chemistry and how it could be applied to farming just because of my background in engineering. He certainly gave me a lot of credit that I didn't deserve! I know he enjoyed teaching me about farming (I am a 'city girl' and pretty much knew nothing of farming before I met Eric) and I enjoyed learning. He got a kick out of me helping herd the cattle from the outdoor pen to the indoor pen at Christmas time because I was so wide eyed about the whole process. I love how he shared so much with the kids - pointing out where the coyotes had a den, bringing them to see the cats, bringing them to the great fishing spots at the cottage. Of course there were his stories that he would tell (the favourites made their way back to the dinner table a few times over). :-) No visit to the farm was complete without some stories of his childhood. Some of my favourites were about the robin that refused the worm, preferring instead the cherries. Or snowmobiling with Jan before they had kids. Of course we made some of our own memories that made it to 'story time' too - who could forget the bucking horse Oscar from New Brunswick that Larry rode.
Larry - I miss you. You will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you for being my father-in-law. We will continue to tell stories and laugh about all of the happy memories we have of you.
My deepest sympathies to the Powell family. May God be with you in your time of need.
My memory of Larry was when my brother David and I met the whole Powell clan on his family's farm in Binbrook. I was little but I do remember how much fun it was in the kitchen eating home baked cookies and drinking milk at the table and seeing that stupid red clock as Sharon put it. I remember him showing us around his father's farm and exploring the many things city kids had never seen before. Our family even adopted a little ginger kitten from the farm. I have such fond memories there and of Larry. His sense of humor, his smile and especially his laugh.
Jan and family, we are sorry to hear about Larry’s passing and your loss. He was a great help to us over the years and a great neighbour.

I remember the times we would take Luke and Florence out to see their other grandparents (Larry and Jan) after we'd been 'sharing' them when their parents were away One time Larry told us about the stove that burned corn pellets. I thought that was very cool. I loved seeing him interact with his two grandchildren. He was always so delighted to see them. Another time we went with Larry and Jan to a social evening at their church to play a card game - the name of which I cannot remember - John and I figured our role that evening was to make everyone else look really good. Those people were real whizzes at that game. I was impressed with how well regarded Larry was by the others in the group.
