SWANSON, Earl Morris

Passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2nd, 2019 at John Noble Home at the age of 91. Born April 21, 1927 in Prince Albert Saskatchewan. Youngest son of Samuel and Kristina (nee Larson). Predeceased by three brothers Phillip, Eli and Reuben and three sisters Lillian, Violet and Esther. Earl is survived by the love of his life, Edna Swanson (nee Sawatsky) to whom he was married for 69 years. They met at Western Canadian Bible Institute in Regina, Saskatchewan and married on May 28, 1949. Together, they raised three children, Valdene Wager (Wayne), Rodney (Sandi) and Gordon (Kimberley), 9 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Earl was an ordained minister and served with the Christian and Missionary Alliance as a pastor and youth director in Western Canada and Ohio from 1949-1961. He moved on to become the Canadian President of Scripture Press Publications from 1961-1990. After retiring from Scripture Press, he enjoyed his time travelling and boating. Winters in Arizona and summers on the water with his wife were the enduring joys of his later years. Following their move to Brantford in 1989, he became actively involved with the Kiwanis Club of Grand River and served as a board member with the Canadian Diabetic Association of Brantford. His philanthropy extended to many local, regional and national organizations. Earl spent his last two years at the John Noble Home. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Mohawk Terrace wing for their attentive care. Friends will be received at the BECKETT - GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE, 88 Brant Avenue, 519-752-4331 on Wednesday, March 6th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Interment to follow at Oakhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association, the Christian and Missionary Alliance or the charity of their choice.
