Balne, Shirley E. Formerly of Primrose Cottage, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 in her 94th year at the Brantford General Hospital. She was the second daughter of the late Edward and Bessie Balne, and also predeceased by her elder sister, Eileen (Jack) Wilkie. She is survived by her sister Marian M. (Clarence) Kellam. She is the dear Auntie Shirley of her nephews and nieces, Roger (Carol) of Blenheim, Christopher (Alison) of Grand Valley, Paul of Ellington Connecticut, Claudette (Gene) of Oshawa, and Steven Ou (Mary) of Unionville. Grande Auntie Shirley of Kyle (Alexandra), Krystle (Duncan), Shannon (Josh) and their son Hudson, Austin, Megan, Joshua, Michelle and Nathan Ou. Shirley was a life long member of the former Colborne/Heritage Church which she served in many capacities. She was also a charter member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and a strong Monarchist. She spent many years as executive secretary at C.E. Bauer and the Provincial Assessment office in Brantford. Her family invites you to a visitation at BECKETT-GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE, 88 Brant Ave. Brantford 519-752-4331. on Monday, September 3, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A Service of Celebration will be held in the chapel at 11:30 a.m. A private interment service will take place on Tuesday, September 4th at Mount Hope Cemetery. Donations in Shirley's memory may be made to a charity of your choice. A tree will be planted in memory of Shirley in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
