Obituary of Ruby Winnifred Barton

Barton, Ruby Winnifred (nee: Adams) Passed away peacefully at Park Lane Terrace Nursing Home on Monday, July 16, 2018 in her 101st year. Arthur, beloved husband of 58 years, predeceased her in January 2000. Dear mother of daughter Evelyn Loaring and Paul Perras and son Jim and Kathy Barton. Beloved grandmother of Sean and Jaimie Loaring, Ryan (Jennifer), Cameron (Lindsay), and Paul (Katie) Barton. Loving great grandmother of Alexandra, Reese, Halle, Reid, Zackary and Kal Barton. Ruby is predeceased by her brothers George, Lawrence, Donald and Raymond Adams. Ruby was a lifelong and active member of Langford and then Echo Place United Church where she served as an Elder and Steward and enjoyed being part of church suppers, socials, bake and garage sales. Ruby was a longtime volunteer for Meal on Wheels and regularly canvassed for the Heart and Stroke and Cancer Societies. A phone call, a visit to many friends with baked goods, a drive for a shut-in, and offering a helping hand were part of Ruby's daily activities. Always busy and hardworking, Ruby approached life with a smile, Kindness, wit and sense of humour and selflessly put everyone else first. Community and maintaining strong social connections were very important to her. Ruby's love and support for her family were ongoing. The family is grateful to Park Lane Terrace - Grand River Court for their kind, compassionate and professional care for the past 5 years. Friends will be received at the BECKETT-GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE, 88 Brant Avenue on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Friday, July 20th at 11 a.m. with Reverend Graham Gladstone officiating. Interment Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Onondaga. Donations to Langford Community Church, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
