Our beautiful mother and grandmother passed peacefully with family at her side. Born in Tooting, London, England to Albert and Mabel Badgery, Iris joined the British Women's Land Army in 1940 and met her husband, red-haired Bill a Canadian Army Private. Coming to Canada as a "War Bride" on the SS Letitia in 1946, Iris was welcomed by the Steedman and Cowie clans. While raising five children, our mother was a caregiver for children with disabilities , at the "Brant San", later Brantwood. She was a member of the Overseas Wives Club and survivor of their annual Christmas parties. Predeceased by her husband Bill in 1996, Iris carried on supporting her children and grandchildren. Iris is missed by: Roy (Shirley), Vic (Linda), Doug (Deb), James, Gail Stormes (Doug), grandchildren: Brad (Janice), Lisa Hughes(Vince), Jaime and Gregg, great grandchildren: Taylor, Molleigh, Mason and Isabella. Iris is also mourned by her sister Gwen in England, pre-deceased by her brother Vic and the Steedman's: May and Harold, Ruth and Bruce, Irene and Ken in Canada and Sid Rowe in England, as well as treasured cousins, nieces and nephews in both Canada and England. Dear friend of Ivy, Doris, Clarice, Vicky, Beatrice, Gail, Joan, Rita, Jean, Mary, Lou, Dorothy, Bessie, Marge, and Catherine. Also missed by many four legged friends. Many thanks to the wonderful staff of Bluebird Terrace, St Joseph's Lifecare. Iris has passed on her patience, courage, tolerance and love to her children and grandchildren to carry the torch. In honouring Iris' wishes, A private family graveside service will take place. Arrangements entrusted to the BECKETT-GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE, 88 Brant Avenue, 519-752-4331.
