Obituary of John "Jack" Bragg
Please share a memory of John "Jack" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bragg, John Norman “Jack” passed peacefully September 16, 2016. He is predeceased by his loving parents Dr. Norman Walter Bragg and Edna Orr Bragg, his dear brother Harris, and his fabulous wife Marion Banks. Jack was a graduate of Ridley College, a civil servant, a 54-year member of Rotary International, and a Veteran of WWII. He was a life-long member of First Baptist Church and fondly recalled childhood visits to church when he and Harris would run down the aisles to sit by their grandfather who always had humbugs in his pockets for them. Jack was born in Brantford in 1919 and spent his long and happy life there. He also had many pleasant memories of summers at his parents’ cottage in Muskoka with friends and family. He enjoyed traveling to England several times and was there in 1939 when WWII broke out. He and his wife Marion traveled to Florida every year to visit her sister Joan Banks Vento. He is survived by and will be deeply missed by his nieces and nephews, Norman Turner Bragg, Barbara and Brian Jenkins, John Allan Bragg, Carmen and Douglas Banks, Lorraine and Peter Maxwell-Coghlan and Joan Gardave, and many great-nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his cherished friend Elaine Stewart, cousins Barry and Marie Book, and honorary nieces and nephews in the Macdonald, Lashbrook and Baldwin families. Jack’s profound love of life and people sustained him happily for 97 years and 2 days.
There will be a Celebration of Jack's Life at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 1:00. Cremation has taken place.
