Obituary of David Stren

STREN, David - It is with deep sadness that Patti Stren and Richard Cohen announce the death of their beloved brother and brother-in-law, David Stren, who passed away suddenly on August 28th, 2016 at the age of 68, in Toronto. He was predeceased by his loving parents, Sadie and Maurice Stren, to whom he had been devoted. From the time of his father’s death in 1995, David was a caring companion and support to his mother, until her death in 2014. David also leaves his sister Sherry, to whose needs he had always been unfailing responsive. Beneath his quiet demeanor, David had a brilliant mind and a wry sense of humor. After growing up in Brantford, Ontario, David attended the University of Toronto, where he obtained an engineering degree, before beginning a long career in computer technology. After retirement, he dedicated his computer talents with characteristic generosity to volunteer work at Mt. Sinai Hospital. David had been his sister Patti’s first publisher and a life-long supporter of her artistic and writing career. He was proud of his brother-in-law, Richard, a physician and oncologist, with whom he enjoyed a close relationship. His dedicated service to others made a difference to many lives around him. David lived by the tenets of Judaism, which were important to him. The family wish to thank Orfa Redin for the affection and care she showed to David, and for her help to the family over many years. Friends will be received at the BECKETT-GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE, 88 Brant Avenue, Brantford on August 31, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. A funeral service will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery - Beth David Section. A tree will be planted in memory of David in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
