Condolences
Deborah and I are deeply saddened by your loss of Jim. We knew him for over 45 years as a warn, funny and generous man. When Deborah taught in Scarborough, she frequently met me at the old Northern building on Lakeshore Blvd. Jim would hear her voice and come out of his office to laugh and talk until I could pack up. The very first week that I was in Toronto, Jim made a presentation and bestowed upon me a linesman’s hammer with all rights and responsibilities. He could engage with everybody and talk about anything, always making it fun.
Jim and I worked together on two separate occasions over a period of about 10 years. I found him to be an astute businessman with a strong sense of loyalty and fairness. He provided advice and encouragement to those around him without being critical or interfering. He was a fine role model.
My lasting memory of Jim is the immense pride he had in his family; he spoke of you so often and in such caring terms that that it inspired others. What a worthwhile legacy.
