It is with great sadness and fond memories, his family announces the passing of Neil Ryder on Wednesday, March 9th, 2016, peacefully at his home in his 74th year. Beloved husband of Beverley for over 50 years. Loving father of Sarah (Henry), Tim, and Rebecca (Gary). Loving "Papa" to Lucy and Ryan. He is survived by his brother Norman (Betty). Predeceased by his parents Harold and Margaret (nee Elliott). He will be fondly remembered by his uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and friends. Neil was a long time member of Faith Lutheran Church and the choir, he loved to paint, and was an avid designer and inventor. He was very generous with his time, and always willing to lend a helping hand.
Neil had the professional designation of Certified Engineering Technologist (CET). One of his many designs included the food drop bag for African Aid in the 80’s. He worked for Uniroyal, Guelph, Ascoelectric and White Farm in Brantford. He was always very hands on and could fix any small engine. In the later part of his career he set up his own design consulting practice, specializing in designing manufacturing processes. A man of many talents, he was also a professional wedding photographer and owner of Heirloom Photography on Brant Ave for over 20 years. In his retirement he focused on art and enjoyed painting nature scenes and landscapes.
Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave. on Friday from 7 - 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 - 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 57 Brant Ave. A Funeral Service will follow at the church on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Private Family Interment at Bookton Cemetery, Wyndham Center. Donations to the Faith Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
A tree will be planted in memory of Neil in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
