STIRLING, Robert Douglas "Doug" - Passed away in peace after a brief illness at the Brantford General Hospital, on September 24th, 2011, in his 91st year. Doug was a devoted husband and dear friend of his wife, Dorothy for over 63 years. Greatly loved by his daughters Kathy (George) Wheatley of Brantford, Janet Stirling of Victoria, B.C., and his son David (JoAnne) Stirling of Hagersville. He was proud of his grand-daughters Sara and Karin Wheatley. Doug served in the Canadian Navy During World War II and worked as a pattern maker, carpenter, salesman and in several other office capacities. Doug was a quiet, gentle man who loved to dance, ice skate and bike ride until he was into his 80's. He was noted for his good sense of humour and was happiest lately when he could find work he was able to do outdoors. At Doug's request cremation has taken place and a private family service was held. Arrangements have been entrusted to the BECKETT - GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE, 88 Brant Avenue, (519) 752-4331. For those who wish, memorial donations to World Vision or the Aberdeen Health and Community Services would be greatly appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Doug in the Beckett - Glaves Memorial Forest.
