Obituary of Elizabeth Young

YOUNG, Elizabeth "Betty" (nee Keresturi) - Peacefully at the St. Joseph's Lifecare Centre on Canada Day, July 1st, and surrounded by her loving family. Elizabeth passed away in her 86th year. She went to be with her Lord and her beloved late husband Basil Young (1986). Elizabeth is survived by her sisters Rosie Danko and Clara Czeranko and her brothers Alex, Joe, Steve and Lewis Keresturi. Loving mother of Diane Dunn, Joan (John) Gatward, Gloria (Bruce) Sewell and Robert Young. Generous and loving grandma of Terry, Tara, Tracy, Abbey, Derek, Jordan, Emily and Mary Ellen and great-grandma of James, Ocean, Lyra, Denna, Tyler, Natalie, Lauren and Alexander. Elizabeth is predeceased by her sisters Julia Raiki and Margaret Gellatly and her great-grandson Dawson Dunn. Elizabeth was employed at Slingsby's during WWII, was self employed with Avon for 17 years and worked at Kerns Jewelery. She was an avid gardener, devoted to her family and was a founding charter member of Fairview United Church in 1954. She served many years as a Unit Leader for the UCW, and enjoyed time at the cottage, bass fishing and good times with family and friends. Elizabeth proudly supported the BGH and was part of starting the first fund to purchase a new CAT Scanner in 1986. Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Avenue, on Tuesday, July 5th, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Dr. Barry Pridham officiating. Interment Farringdon Burial Ground. Donations to the Brantford General Hospital Foundation - New CAT Scanner Fund would be greatly appreciated.
