Obituary of Marcia Drummey

DRUMMEY, (Shewchuk), Marcia, 59, - In loving memory of Marcia Drummey of Bedford, Nova Scotia, who passed away peacefully on June 28, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Brantford, ON to Helen (Brown) and Jack Shewchuk, predeceased by her father Jack (d. 1989). She is survived by her mother Helen, husband John, her children Josh, Shauna, Thomas, & Jackson, siblings Candace (Rick) & Jay (Pat) and many nieces & nephews. She was a symbol of kindness, generosity, positivity, and love. She was smiling every day of her life. Marcia took great happiness out of bringing joy to others, especially during the Christmas season. This was most demonstrated in the community by her favorite hobby - decorating the house both inside and out. In the summer she also took great pride in her lawn, a characteristic she inherited from her golf-star father. What made her happiest was when the family was all together. Originally from Brantford, Marcia moved to Bedford in 1987 and left some lifelong friends in Ontario, only to make many more in Nova Scotia. The family wishes to express their thanks especially to Auntie Candy & Auntie Ann, Uncle Jay & Uncle Larry, as well as Pat, Wayne, Barb, Roddy, Cindy, Gerard, Susan, Phil, Denise, Mairia & Ann Marie, and also Thank You to Frankie Reid for always checking in on Marcia every day - so much support from family and friends from Ontario, Nova Scotia and beyond. Many thanks also go out to the doctors, especially Dr. Colwell, and nurses, VON's, especially Jack and Jeanie, from Ottawa and Halifax who never gave up hope and helped keep Marcia's spirits high. Services will be held in Nova Scotia and Ontario. Visitation will be held from 6-9, at T.K. Barnard's Funeral Home in Bedford on June 29th. Service will be at Bedford United Church at 11am on June 30th. A family service will be held in Brantford, ON where Marcia will be laid to rest in Mount Hope Cemetery, close to Papa Bear. In lieu of flowers the family would greatly appreciate donations made in Marcia's name to the Canadian Cancer Society and LIVESTRONG. A tree will be planted in memory of Marcia in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
