Obituary of Catharine Duncan

DUNCAN, Catharine Grant "Kaye"- Sept. 30, 1917 - Jan. 22, 2011 "I shall pass this way but once, therefore, any good that I may do, let me not deter from it, for I shall not pass again." Kaye entered into eternal rest at Leisure World, Brantford on January 22, 2011. She is predeceased by her husband Gordon (1962), her sons Art and John, her sisters Betty Cooke (Bill), and Jean Read (Jud). Dear and loving mother-in-law of Wilma and adored Nana of her pride and joy grandchildren, Sara and Ian. Kaye is also survived by her nieces and nephews Barb Pettit (Don), Frank Read (Brenda), Geoff Read, Doug Read, Martha Kneider (George), Bruce Duncan, and her dear friend Gertrude Kerr. Kaye was a proud charter member of Viscount Alexander of Tunis and received life membership. She was an avid golfer, reader, crossword puzzler and member of the Brantford Golf & Country Club. She owned the world of bridge, became skilled in interior decorating through their family store (Charles Duncan and Sons) and enjoyed years of fun at her cottage, and travel with her family. A special thank you to Frank and Brenda Read for your ever-loving support, and for the many ways in which you enriched Kaye's life over the years. The family is also grateful to the staff of Leisureworld Longterm Care Centre for their patient, affectionate, expert and respectful care. You made Kaye's final months most enjoyable for her. Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Avenue on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Thursday at 3 p.m. with Reverend Paul Tinker officiating. Cremation. If desired, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
