Condolences
Our deepest sympathies to all of the family. Elsie was a very special person and we will never forget the warm hugs she always had for us whenever we were visiting the Brantford church. Our hearts ache for your loss. Denise & Mark Wray
Elsie Monday, December 06, 2010 2:52 PM accurately quoted-"Every good poem begins with a lump in your throat"--wisely applied, every good remembrance begins with a lump in our collective throat. And those lumps in our throats " are as welcome as the flowers in May". Today I feel loss, but today I have no regret. No regrets today for the yesterdays --the yesterdays filled with the joy of knowing Elsie. Yesterdays were spent talking, praying, listening, laughing--sitting in the backyard, sitting in the front room, or talking by the way in church. In yesterdays and yesteryears the church was opened and ready for Sabbath Service by Elsie--early. The church which Elsie held so dear. A church which scarce has seen such great a faith as her faith. A faith which led Elsie to pray for each child and youth by name each and every yesterday. In yesteryears that young Irish lass never knew the faith in which God would lay her to rest. And Elsie spoke with joy and pride of her children, grandchildren, friends, neighbours, cats, squirrels, Flowers---if God created it - or you , Elsie loved you--Elsie love her Lord. The bond between a mother and daughter was evident in Elsie's countenance--whenever Sandra was coming to visit we knew that Elsie would be okay. She always gathered a reserve of strength to carry on. I am convinced the snow storm which delayed Sandra's arrival served to delay the day we never wanted . Graham, John, David, Larry, Sandra, Little John, and all the rest -what an honour to have shared your Mom and Gran's love. The divine hope we shared with our dear Elsie is not enough to quench today's burning sting of human loss. Our hope, however, is strong enough to heal and to comfort in our time of grief and loss. And our hope carries us forward to a day when all our pain, and grief of loss, will be translated into a language of praise and joy . A day of happiness in reunion. A day of hope realized. And a day which will never cast a shadow, precipitate a tear, or break a heart. God has prepared for each of us a place where we can be with Him, and a place we can share with all whom we love, and with all who love Him . A place where good - bye is never heard. God knows the importance of the imperfect love we have shared with family and friends. God offers us all a place where we can perfect our love for eternity. Can you actually imagine being able to love Elsie, your Mom, your Gran, your friend, any more than you already have ! Imagine that happy tomorrow.
Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the Nelson family. "When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure" Mike, Alison, Kaitlyn & Sara Hover.
Granny, although we drifted apart over the years and never seen each other as much as i would have liked, you were always in my thoughts and prayers. You were always there for me growing up and your door was always open. I will always remember going to your house for ice cream & popsicles and spending time visiting with you. You always had time for everyone and not a harsh word to say. You're in a very special place now and i will always be thinking of you. Rest in peace now as you are with the angels. Lots of love Robert, Nicole, Sydney and Nolan
Elsie was like a sister and a dear friend to me, a much loved mother figure to my girls. We have many, many happy memories and laughs involving Elsie. What a special person she was!! Elsie loved The Lord so much and many of our thoughts about the church family include her always. Now, she is resting and waiting for Jesus to wake her up that great getting up morning when He returns. We miss you Elsie. Mercedes, Michele & Julie McDonald
