DICKIE, William James - Passed away at Brantford General Hospital on May 21st, 2010, in his 89th year. Loving husband of the late Norma (nee Taverner) Dickie. Beloved father of Karen and Su. Father-in-law of Rob. A very special Grandpa to Paula (Gary), Ted (Debbie) and Aislinn (Trevor). "Papa" will always be loved and remembered by his great-grandchildren: Ethan, Sarah, Liam, Avah and Owen. Bill is predeceased by his parents James and Caroline Dickie, his brother Reg Dickie and nephew Philip Dickie. He will be missed by his sister-in-law Darlene, his many nieces and nephews and his friends. Special thanks to Ruth and Felix for their support over the past few months. Bill was a loyal employee of Canada Packers for 40 Years until his retirement at the age of 60. He then began phase two of his career, working at Delta Bingo for over 20 years, where he was fondly referred to as "Uncle Bill" by his co-workers. He loved his family, he loved his friends, he loved his work and he loved the Buffalo Sabres. They will never have a bigger fan. Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave., on Wednesday May 26th, from 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service and celebration of Bill's life will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, May 27th at 11:00 a.m. A private family burial will be held at Mount Forest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Bill in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
