LESTER, Marion Sophronia (nee Catton) (Ret RCAF) - Passed peacefully in her sleep early morning of January 25, 2010 in her 97th year. Wife of Alvin Lester (1989), former wife of Roy R. Kennedy (1996). Loving mother of sons John R. Kennedy (Donna) and James W. Kennedy. Very proud grandmother of Sarah V. Kennedy, along with her brothers Jeff and Tim. Loving aunt of Suzanne and Marion and their families. Also,
will be missed by step-children Joyce Anthony, Ted Lester and Russell Lester (2001). Predeceased by her mother Sophronia Catton (1967), father William Catton (1971), her sister Betty Collett and husband Ralph (2006). Marion was a greatly accomplished graduate of MacDonald Hall class of 1934, University of Guelph. Served with the Red Cross 1936 to 1939, and then with the RCAF, retired as Section officer. Taught as a substitute teacher for the Norfolk County Board of Education, volunteered for over 40 years at various hospitals in Brantford, Simcoe and Hamilton. She lived a full life and will be greatly missed by all. Special thank you to the nurses of Tranquility Place for their care and concern for the last 6 years. Friends will be received at BECKETT-GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE, 88 Brant Avenue, on Friday, January 29 from 1 to 2 pm. A Memorial Service to follow in the chapel at 2:00 pm. Cremation has taken place. Donations to the Haiti Relief Fund or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
A tree will be planted in memory of Marion in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
