SCHAUS, Hazel Hilda - Passed away peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital, on Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009 in her 98th year. Beloved wife of the late Reuben Schaus (1985). Dear mother of Velda (Bruce) Cochrane, of Paris, Gerald (Lisa) Schaus of Fort, St. John, B.C., Robert (Eleanor) Schaus, of Hoyt, N.B. and the late (infant) Elaine (1944). Devoted grandmother of 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She will also be sadly missed by her friend Mickey Schaus and many other family members and friends. Predeceased by her parents Ellison and Alice (Weekes) Wainman, sisters Alice McElrea and Evelyn Yungblut, and her brothers Newton, Walter, Willard, Alfred and Victor. Hazel's family was of the utmost importance to her. She had a passion for knitting (resulting in many treasured gifts for her family, especially her grandchildren), quilting, and gardening. In later years, she enjoyed her friends and social activities at Telfer Place. Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave., Brantford, on Monday from 1 - 2 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel on Monday at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Lee Haughton officiating. Interment Paris Cemetery. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, or St. Paul's United Church, Paris would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Hazel in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
