POPE, Alice Blanche (nee Spiers) - (Mar 5, 1929 - Oct 5, 2009) - She entered the Brantford General Hospital as the result of a stroke and passed away peacefully on Monday, October 5, 2009. Loving wife of Clarence Kenneth Pope for over 60 years (married at St. Luke's Anglican Church by Rev Tomkins). Much loved mother of Ken (Leslie); Aaron (Dawn); Lance (Tamara) and Ruth (companion "J"). Loving grandmother of Hilary, Gregory and Aurielle; and great-grandmother of Kaleb and Cohen. Born and raised in Brantford, Alice was the eldest daughter helping to raise her 8 siblings, the dear sister of Bill; Bob (Joan); Dan (Diane/Karen); Delcy Knox (David); Fred; John (Carmel); Joyce Berkeley (Lloyd) and Sidney (Joan). Predeceased by her parents Delcy Mary and Charles Patrick Spiers. Alice will be sorely missed by her large and extended family. Alice was the fortunate recipient of a kidney transplant over 25 years ago and we are grateful for this generous donation. Her passion for genealogy and years of service to the Brantford Genealogical Library, her family, and crossword puzzles filled her later years. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Alice's Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Avenue (519) 752-4331. Donations to the Kidney Foundation on her behalf would be greatly appreciated. We will miss you very much. "To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded" Ralph Waldo Emmerson
