CARDIFF, Jean Isobel (nee Smith) - The family of Jean Isobel Cardiff wish to announce Jean's death in the early hours of June 7th, 2009, in her 88th year. Tragically Jean died two days after the death of her son Kenneth Richard Cardiff at Tillsonburg Memorial Hospital. Jean, a lifetime resident of Brantford was a well known and respected member of the city's nursing community for many years prior to her retirement in 1987. She was predeceased by her husband Richard Oliver Cardiff, sisters Nora, Barbara and Helen; brothers Henry and John. Jean is survived by brother Robert Smith and spouse Gladys of Brantford; daughter Pamela Faragher and spouse William of Brantford; sons Laurence and spouse Monika of Kingston, William and spouse Janette of Calgary; daughter-in-law Merle of Tillsonburg; grandchildren Ian and Sandra, Peter, Paula, Penny, Jennifer, Christian, Laura and their spouses or partners spread liberally across the provinces of Ontario, Alberta and Manitoba; and great-grandchildren Abby, Cassie, Lexie, Declan, Lily and Cameron. A Memorial Service will be held for the family and friends of Jean at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 70 Superior Street, Brantford, on Saturday, June 20th, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, (519) 752-4331. It was Jean's request that donations in lieu of flowers be made to Sick Kids Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society. A tree will be planted in memory of Jean in the Beckett - Glaves Memorial Forest.
