"What a wonderful life I have lived! I shall pass this way but once, therefore any good that I may do, let me not deter from it for I shall not pass this way again."
Art succumbed peacefully to cancer at home under the loving care of his family. Dearly loved husband, best friend and soulmate of Wilma. Adoring and deeply loved father of Sara and Ian. Cherished son of Catharine and the late Gordon Duncan. Predeceased by his brother John and nephew Danny. Art treasured memories of the great times he spent with his Nova Scotia family. He leaves to mourn his mother-in-law Ruth Weatherhead, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Doreen, Gilbert, Ronald (Nancy), Keith (Annie), Bessie, Verna (Harry) and Richard (Elsbeth). Loved and respected by nine amazing nieces and nephews: Barb (Brian), Dale, Nancy, Debbie, Jeff, David, Lisa, Tom (Jen) and Jennifer(Justin). Art was a member of the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers for forty-four years. He worked as a corporate business planning and process automation engineering specialist throughout his distinguished career. The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Mielke, Dr. Lukka, Dr. Grantham and Dr. Li for their expert and compassionate care. Thank you to the special VON nurses Martha and Alice. You always brightened Art's days. Thank you to PSW Daisy and physiotherapist Hossein for the wonderful care you provided to Art. Thanks to Carla, Steve and Linda from Therapy Health Care and Technology Access Clinic. Special thank you to Pauline Johnson Elementary School Staff for your comforting support during Art's nine years of cancer treatment. Sincere thank you to Frank and Brenda Read. You have blessed us with your ever-loving support and devotion to our family; especially, throughout this difficult time. At Art's request a private funeral service with Rev. Lillian Curtis officiating will be held at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Avenue, Brantford. Cremation to follow. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Juravinski Cancer Centre, Hamilton would be appreciated by the family.
"Deeply missed. Forever in our hearts."
A tree will be planted in memory of Art in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
