JONES, Joseph, Morgan (Joe) -
P.O.W. Dieppe Raid 1942.
On Monday, April 6, 2009, Joe died peacefully in the early morning at St. Joseph's Lifecare Centre, Brantford in his 99th. year. He has gone to join his beloved wife of 66 years Viola (Woodman) who predeceased him in 2005 (91 yrs.). He was born in Caernarvon, Wales the son of Owen and Harriet (nee Williams), and came to Canada in 1923. He was the loving brother of Alice Haines (the late Clarence (Bill) and Annie Graham (the late Bud). Dearly beloved father of Marion (Don Hale) and Margaret (David Fernay). Dearly loved Grandpa of Timothy Langille (Allison), Michelle (Russell Snow), and David and Barbara Hale. Cherished Great-Grandpa to Logan and Nathan Snow, and Brahm and Madeline Langille. Loving Uncle Joe to many nieces and nephews. Joe is predeceased by brothers, Ellis, (the late Lois), Owen, Robert, Humphrey, (the late Nora) and sister Nellie Phillips (the late Earl). Joe was an employee of the Brantford General Hospital. Joe spent all of his post war days being thankful that he got to come home and praying for forgiveness for going to war in the first place.. Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Avenue on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 1-3 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Thursday at 3 p.m. Interment Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's memory to the St. Joseph's Lifecare Centre, or the charity of your choice. A tree will be planted in memory of Joe in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
