Obituary of Charles William Marshall

MARSHALL, Charles William "Bill" 1921-2008 - Peacefully at home, with his wife at his side in his 87th year, on Sunday, December 7th, 2008. Bill was much loved by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy, and his children, Jane Barbara Kuhn and son Bill Jr. (both predeceased). Also predeceased by parents Charles H. and Edith Marshall. Survived by sister Hazel Heath and predeceased by sister Winifred Nickerson. Papa was admired and respected by son-in-law Jim Kuhn (Lucy) and daughter-in-law Cathy Marshall. Bill was a wonderful role model for his grandchildren Trevor, Robert, Kristen, Peter and great-grandson, Mason. Fondly remembered by Dorothy's sister Barbara Overgaard and her family. Born in Brantford, Bill "Charlie" was a highly valued employee with Sunoco for over 40 years. He served with the Royal Canadian Navy for 4 ½ years during WWII. He led a very active life in both his community and his church as a longstanding member of the Beckett Adult Leisure Centre and Faith Lutheran Church. He was an avid sports fan and highly respected hockey coach in his younger days. Papa loved life, people, and square dancing all over the world with Dorothy, something they enjoyed into their 80s. Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Avenue, on Wednesday, December 10th, from 9:30 -11:00 a.m. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Faith Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Bill in the Beckett - Glaves Memorial Forest.
