CALLEYA, Marjorie "Mardy" - Passed away peacefully at the John Noble Home, on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008 in her 86th year. Beloved wife of Jack for over 66 years. Predeceased by her brother Delbert. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her life-long friend Lialla Raymes, and many other family members and friends. Mardy played, along side her friend Lialla, in the Fertile Valley Band in Saskatchewan, which won many prestigious awards. She attended many (if not all) of the Symphony Orchestra performances that she could, attesting to her great love of music. Mardy was also known and loved for her many musical exploits which included performances at the Burtch Reformatory for the inmates, performing musical pieces for her customers at the Five and Dime Store she worked at in order to boost sales, and performing in the choir of Queensway Baptist Church for over 40 years. She was on the committee of the Brantford Business Christian Women's Club, and was very proud of her 47 year career at Nyman's Ladies Wear, downtown Brantford (Owned by Sam Nyman and then his son Bert), from which she retired upon its closing in the early 1990's. A Memorial Service will be held at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Avenue on Monday at 11 a.m. Donations to Queensway Baptist Church would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Mardy in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
